"Intelligent Cargo Study" availabe from the European Comission
The EC has published an impact assessment study on the introduction of intelligent cargo systems in the transport logistics industry.
The main objective of the study is an analysis of the adoption of information and communication technologies (ICT) for freight transport and their potential to increase the efficiency in logistics operations.
It provides an overview about the state of the art technology and projects done in this sector differentiating them by several categories and criteria. Additionally it describes scenarios for the assessment of direct and indirect impact of intelligent cargo systems.
As the final result a description of a migration path from the current situation to the scenario with the highest potential is provided. The study also includes for interview with different experts from different sectors for analysis of the major changes expected by them.

Interesting report
Very interesting report, it would have been nice to see an updated/expanded version of it including some of the advanced national projects we have identified in Logistics 4 Life wp1 and a larger group of experts as well as more information on the experts in the actual panel.
