Logistics for LIFE (www.logistics4life.eu) project aims at bringing together leading logistic companies, technology providers and research organizations working on innovative ICT solutions to ensure long-term sustainability of the logistic industry by increasing its operational efficiency. The Logistic For LIFE Coalition is built on the assumption that operational efficiency is the key for the long-term sustainability of the logistics industry, and that sustainability has a broader meaning than just environmental friendliness. New developments for freight transport and logistics at the 4th European Conference on ICT for Transport Logistics (ECITL)

The crucial role of a fully interoperable and intelligent transport system was emphasised at the 4th European Conference on ICT for Transport Logistics (ECITL) organised by the University of Applied Sciences Vorarlberg GmbH (FHV) and the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH) and supported by several independent EU funded projects dealing with different issues in transport logistics. Intermediate results from the L4L requirement survey available

Dear IC Forum members, here are some preliminary results from our survey on ICT for energy-efficient logistics.
Most relevant functionalities for new ICT developments (Rank 1 to 5; 1 least significant):

  • Seamless information flow through the entire supply chain (38% ranked 5);
  • Information on cargo status, e.g.: temperature, humidity control level (20% ranked 5 also same percentage ranked 4);

Green Logistics Technical aspects: first results from discussion

At the Logistics for LIFE Plenary in Bremen we had an interesting working group on technical aspects to enable green logistics. Here are the topics our industry representatives agreed upon. Technology should be an enabler for requirements towards more green logistics, but it is - and will always be - a push for showing possibilities within the sector.
